BRAZIL… BRAZIL… BRAZIL… Oh, no! It was really sad losing the game against Netherlands (Holland) last Friday (07/09/10) at the World Cup 2010. To lift my ‘spirit’ and other Brazilians fans I decided to find another ‘11 Brazilian heroes’ that we know already or have heard sometime… Oh, my! There are a lot of other ones! We Brazilians should be really proud that this country is not just about soccer (futebol). It’s about progress, rich history, inventions, art & design, building, music; of course, beautiful woman, and etc. Once this post is to ‘pamper our Brazilian disappointment’ I picked 11 people, just to represent the 11 players that compose the soccer team. When I start doing the research about each ‘hero’ I found so much material for each that I decided to post about them one by one at different days.

So I am going to start with the man who has been the president the country for the last 2 terms...

The first 'hero' is a Politician:

Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (Portuguese pronunciation: [luˈiz iˈnasiu ˈlulɐ da ˈsiwvɐ] audio (help•info); born 6 October 1945, but registered with a date of birth of 27 October 1945), known popularly as Lula[2] is the thirty-fifth and current President of Brazil. He is featured in Time's The 100 Most Influential People in the World for 2010.[3]

A founding member of the Workers' Party (PT – Partido dos Trabalhadores), he ran for President three times unsuccessfully, first in the 1989 election. Lula achieved victory in 2002, and was inaugurated as President on 1 January 2003. In the 2006 election he was re-elected for a second term as President ending on 1 January 2011.
